The Back Bay Chorale opens its 33rd season with Honegger's Le Roi David, a dramatic portrayal of the life of the biblical David, in a rare performance in its original French.
Originally written in 1921 for the theatre, Honegger captures in music the drama of David's tumultuous life, from his victory over Goliath as a young child to his ascendancy to the throne of Israel. Performed in its original form, Le Roi David is enriched with imaginative staging and narration by one of North America's leading French operatic baritones.
