Restaurant Week or Dine Out Boston: whichever name you use, it’s the best week for dining out in Back Bay

Dine Out Boston, formerly known as Restaurant Week, is back from August 5-10 and 12 – 17 with prix fixe menus from Back Bay’s favorite restaurants.  Here’s the lowdown:

Participating restaurants are offering  set menus at three pricing tiers:  $15, $20 or $25 for lunch, and $28, $33 or $38 for dinner.  Exact offers vary by restaurants, so scroll through and start planning!

BACK BAY SOCIAL CLUB

Lunch: $20 for two-course menu
Dinner: $33 for three-course menu

Menu Highlights: For lunch, the 1/2 chicken and waffles.  For dinner, the Ribeye, 8oz with mashed potatoes and red wine compound butter, and drool-worthy brisket mac and cheese.

BAR BOULUD

Menu Highlights: French classic boudin blanc (a white pork sausage), served with pomme purée, caramelized figs, frisée salad

BISTRO DU MIDI

Lunch: $25 for three-course menu
Dinner: $38 for three-course menu

Menu Highlights: For lunch, salmon rillette with capers and grilled fougasse and Croque Monsieur with black forest ham, mornay, and gruyère, and Bistro du Midi’s collection of sweets to go.  For dinner, mussels with coconut-vadouvan crème, heirloom tomatoes, and grilled fougasse, and Bavette steak with mushroom duxelles, puff pastry, and hotel d’maitre de butter.  Save room for the lemon tart for dessert.

THE CAPITAL GRILLE STEAKHOUSE

Lunch: $25 for three-course menu
Dinner: $38 for three-course menu

Menu Highlights: For lunch, New England clam chowder and pan seared salmon.  For dinner, any of Capital Grille’s prime cuts of meat with one of additional seafood offerings (Grilled Jumbo Shrimp, Maine lobster tail, Crab Oscar).  It’s a difficult choice between the Flourless Chocolate Espresso Cake and The Capital Grille Cheese Cake for dessert.

CITY TABLE

Dinner: $33 for three-course menu

Menu Highlights: Tempura fried artichokes with south end radish greens, lemon, and garlic aioli; steak frites with bistro fries and housemade steak sauce; and veggie risotto with spring asparagus, english peas, roasted carrots, herbs, and parmesan.

Menu Highlights: Davio’s offers a different menu for each week of Restaurant Week, PLUS a special brunch menu.  Brunch highlights include Nutella French Toast with berry compote, chantilly cream, and maple syrup and a white pizza with sweet sausage, bacon, cheddar and farm egg.  For lunch, the Kobe beef burger, vermont cheddar, caramelized onions, and horseradish aioli on brioche and the chicken Milanese with roasted potatoes, arugula, shaved parmigiano, and lemon butter.  For dinner, Davio’s Italian roots and steakhouse concept shine with pasta dishes and prime cuts of meat.

FLEMING’S PRIME STEAKHOUSE & WINE BAR

Menu Highlights: A full array of protein options, from salmon and chicken to three different prime cuts of beef, all of which can be ordered with additional accompaniments like truffle-poached lobster with béarnaise sauce and caviar and jumbo lump crabmeat Oscar style with béarnaise sauce.

Menu Highlights: Starting with the peppercorn crusted lamb carpaccio with roasted garlic aioli focaccia croutons, Crotonese cheese, and pickled cherry peppers and or one of the supplemental offerings like burrata with focaccia, arugula, and charred pistachios,  mussels with pancetta, shallots, basil, ciabatta, saffron, and white wine, or gnocchi with roasted oyster mushrooms, spinach, sherry, and a Parmesan crumble.  Entree  options (included and supplemental offerings) are similarly diverse with rigatoni with a traditional veal, beef, and pork ragu, Grana Padano, marscapone, and basil and Georges Bank scallops with potato fondant, charred onion, ham hock, and Castelfranco radicchio.

Menu Highlights: For lunch, lobster potstickers with ginger, soy, and citrus dipping sauce and the blackened Gulf shrimp tacos with pico de gallo, avocado, chipotle crème and sweet potato fries.  For dinner, the “Summer Shack” Raw Bar Sampler with oyster on half shell, cocktail shrimp, and cherrystone clam ceviche, and the grilled Cape Cod sea scallops and shrimp with heirloom tomato salad, garlic roasted kale, and herb roasted potatoes.
