Special guests of Century Bank are collaborating to offer a fun and unique event  to Realtors, their clients and local residents.  Award winning Interior Designer; Dane Giamichael/Dane Austin Design – Architect; Steve Reilly of SLR Architecture and the talented Aga Orlowska, Art Curator – The Gallery Event will be amongst the panel of experts available. The day will be interactive, fun and exciting with local artwork, gift certificate drawings, light refreshments available.  Free 15-minute consultations will be available based on schedule availability. A fun and free way to decide, should we move? Build/extend? Redesign/Refresh?

Join the School of Fashion Design to welcome their new Executive Director Michelle Simpson, and kickoff their 85th academic school year!

Light refreshments, good company, SFD fashion in their galleries, and students ready for another great school year!

About the School of Fashion Design

Founded in 1934, The School of Fashion Design is the only educational institution in Massachusetts dedicated exclusively to the study of fashion design. We provide students with a solid foundation in apparel design and construction that you won’t find anywhere else. We offer small, hands-on classes taught by expert faculty in professional studio workrooms, and our Newbury Street location is the heart of the Boston fashion district.

About Michelle Simpson

An education leader, innovator and brand strategist, Michelle has more than 20 years of experience in public and independent classrooms and has consulted with schools and learning centers in the U.S., China, Dubai and India. 

Previously, Michelle served as the director of environmental education at Northfield Mount Hermon School and the executive director at Oak Meadow, a progressive K-12 school in Brattleboro, VT. She also founded the Intentional Classroom, which creates learning spaces to cultivate 21st-century skills, meet programmatic goals and foster a sense of stewardship among school communities. She has provided leadership in the progressive, experiential education sector for the past decade, presenting on tradition and innovation in K-16 education at conferences such as SxSWedu, National Association of Independent Schools, National Partnership for Educational Access, and Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility. Her writing has appeared in Independent Ideas, Living Education and parent.com. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education and English at the University of Rhode Island and her master’s in environmental studies at Antioch University New England, and attended Harvard’s Women in Education Leadership program. 

Michelle assumed leadership of the School of Fashion Design on Aug. 1 and believes fashion is a driving force in human history that can be a tool for cultural, economic and ecological good. “I am delighted to serve an institution with such distinctive history and lasting relevancy,” she says, “and excited to be part of a talented team developing innovative programs to prepare SFD students for the fashion industry of the future.”

To help you get your threads refreshed right away, Denise Hajjar Boutique will also be on-site with great wardrobe and accessories available for sale.

Join School of Fashion Design to celebrate 85 years in fashion education!

SFD has dug deep into their closets and dusted off dozens of collectible donated garments spanning several decades of great fashion and they’re delighted to share them with you at a live fashion show of collectible vintage fashions donated to SFD over the decades.

The evening will also include a gallery talk with Ren Antonowicz, Historic Costume & Textiles expert, a display of donated works by acclaimed Boston designer Francesco “Ches” DiRusso, a gallery of vintage SFD photos from the 30s, 60s, and 90s, and an exciting announcement from SFD.

General admission is $34, celebrating their 1934 founding
