Celebrate Earth Day at OAK Long Bar + Kitchen
OAK Long Bar + Kitchen is celebrating Earth Day on Sunday, April 22 by turning off its lights from 5 p.m. through closing to conserve energy. More than a hundred candles will be placed throughout the dining room to illuminate the space for an unforgettable “Earth, Wine & Fire” candlelit dinner experience in one of Boston’s most beautiful restaurants.
A special à la carte menu by Executive Chef Graham Lockwood will feature sustainably sourced courses and replace the regular dinner menu for the evening. Each dish will highlight ingredients from New England farms and purveyors (see select farms noted below), and the menu’s wine pairings will spotlight New York State and Oregon wines that are produced and grown with sustainable and biodynamic farming practices. A three-course wine pairing will be offered for $30, or these wines can be ordered by the glass for $13-$18 depending on the selection. Those dining between 5-7 p.m.will receive a complimentary taste of rosé upon arrival. The regular bar menu will also be available.
Sunday’s customers will be some of the first to enjoy OAK as a non-plastic straw establishment. The restaurant is permanently ditching plastic straws starting this Friday, April 20. OAK has already been mindful to create cocktails that don’t require a straw, but for those that do and all other straw requests, Hay! Straws will be used moving forward, which are made from natural wheat stems and are 100% biodegradable. The special “Earth, Wine & Fire” dinner menu will be printed on plantable seed paper, and no single-use item (like cocktail napkins) will be offered to tables.

Royal Wedding Viewing Party & Breakfast
Fairmont Copley Plaza and Boston Weddings cordially invite you to attend a Royal Wedding Viewing Party & Breakfast on Saturday, May 19, from 6:30–9:30 a.m., to celebrate the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The nuptials and all the pomp and ceremony will be broadcasted live in the hotel’s elegant Ballroom while guests indulge in a full English (and American!) breakfast, plenty of tea and scones, and wedding cake to commemorate the occasion. A champagne bar will open at 8 a.m. to toast the happy couple as they embark on a horse-drawn carriage procession through the streets of Windsor, offering Bollinger champagne and traditional British cocktails such as Pimm’s Cup and Bramble.
Guests are highly encouraged to arrive fascinator-ready and dress to impress in traditional wedding wear suited for a royal gathering. A raffle at the party will award a grand prize to one lucky attendee – a two night stay in a Junior Suite at The Savoy in London, Fairmont Copley Plaza’s iconic sister property, inclusive of full English breakfast and a traditional Afternoon Tea. A photo experience will be in the room for guests to capture their own royal moments throughout the morning – red telephone booth, life-size cutouts of Royal family members and more!
Didn’t get your invite to the Oscars? It’s just as well because the Ellie Fund is hosting their 23rd Annual Red Carpet Gala the same evening with an epic awards watching party and tasting event.
On Sunday, February 24th, head on over to the Fairmont Copley Plaza to join Boston’s top movers & shakers in a celebration of film, philanthropy and food from some of the city’s best chefs. You’ll have the chance to meet Stefano Zimei of Chopps American Bar & Grill, Delio Susi of Sulmona, Patrick McRell of Our Fathers, Tatiana Rosana of Outlook at the Envoy, Sean MacAlpine of City Table, Stan Hilbert owner of Forage, Efe Onoglu of Nahita and Brian Mercury of Oak + Rowan.
In addition to the chef stations, there’ll be a cocktail reception, silent & live auctions, streaming of the awards show straight from Hollywood, dancing and live music. The night is all in support of the nonprofit’s mission to help breast cancer patients with transportation, light housekeeping, grocery assistance and more. Tickets are $300 per person, and you can reserve an entire table if you’ve got a group of eight — get more details and find the tickets this way.
