Pop-Up Apple Orchard at Artisan Bistro
Sep 30 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

It’s finally fall in New England and in honor of one of autumn’s time-honored traditions – apple-picking with family and friends – Artisan Bistro at The Ritz-Carlton, Boston is pleased to once again host a pop-up apple orchard within the restaurant so guests can enjoy the ‘fruits’ and flavors of the season, right here in the heart of the city.

On September 30 from 10am – 12 Noon, Artisan Bistro brings an orchard to life where guests can purchase homemade cider donuts, caramel apples, apple chutney and more.  Apple seeds will be given as a takeaway with any purchase and guests can also venture to Artisan Bistro’s bar where the “Boston Green Apple,” an apple infused sangria, is available for purchase as well.

As part of The Ritz-Carlton’s Community Footprints social and environmental responsibility to better serve and partner with local community organizations, Artisan Bistro is pleased to be supporting the family-operated Russell Orchards farm in Ipswich, Massachusetts. The hanging of the Christmas wreaths, the lighting of the Menorah, the smell of cookies baking in the oven. The Catered Affair has a deep affection for holiday traditions. That’s why we’ve created one of our own right here at The Boston Public Library. Our Annual Candy Cane Tea is a free community event that brings families together to kick off the holiday season with child-friendly activities, delightful treats and a festive traditional tea prior to the popular Copley Square tree lighting ceremony.

The Catered Affair at the Boston Public Library is happy to invite you to join them for this unique Boston holiday activity and family tradition. The Candy Cane Tea is free and open to the community, drawing children of all ages with seasonal activities and seasonal food and drink.

Join them for a fun-filled afternoon that celebrates all of the joyful traditions of Christmas, Hannukah and Kwanzaa. Kids can partake in a variety of festive holiday-themed crafts, listen to book readings dedicated to the season, and enjoy a true tea experience from The Catered Affair. Featured treats include:

  • Peppermint Bark
  • Gingerbread
  • Sugar Cookies
  • Hot Chocolate
  • Candy Apple Juice & more!

Add the Candy Cane Tea at the Boston Public Library to your holiday traditions this year and start out with a warm, festive afternoon before heading out to enjoy the Copley Square tree lighting ceremony.

La Chandeleur at the French Cultural Center
Feb 1 @ 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm

Meet and mingle with other Francophiles while celebrating La Chandeleur!

Also called Crêpe Day, la Chandeleur is a French holiday during which people traditionally eat crêpes and drink cidre. Though la Chandeleur is often associated with the Catholic holiday of Candlemas, it actually stems from pagan traditions. And, of course, there is the traditional coin ritual: if you can flip a crêpe while holding a coin in your other hand, you and your family will not have to worry about financial problems. There is even a fun legend that ties Napoleon’s misfortune with his time in Russia with the flipping of the crêpes!

The French Cultural Center will observe this popular holiday with crêpes and a variety of delicious toppings. All ages are invited and welcome to attend!

Please note: When you register for a family, you are registering per family. You will be required to answer a question on the number of family members that will attend.

Early RSVP recommended.
