Volanic Wines of Italy at Terra
Jan 18 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Terra rolls out a spectacular five-course meal featuring volcanic wines of Italy.

Terra Eataly Wine Dinner Boston Back Bay

Photo: BostonChefs

The volcanoes of Italy have endowed history with countless legends, landscapes and ultimately, some of the most expressive wines in the world.

“The discerning characteristic of volcanic terroir and the wines it produces lies on the palate. A perceptible, laser like, linear texture that transcends grape variety and region. A palpable austerity and minerality that translates to smoky, ashy, dusty, chalky textures that no other soil is capable of producing.” – The Winebow Group

Guests will enjoy a spectacular five-course wine dinner featuring thoughtfully prepared, hearty dishes by Chef Dan Bazzinotti and guest speakers to explain the unique nuances of each volcanic wine.

Featured wines will include:
Massifitti, Suavia
Erse Etna Bianco, Tenuta di Fessina
Erse Etna Rosso, Tenuta di Fessina
Terra di Lavoro, Galardi
Aglianico del Vulture, Bisceglia

Series Opening: May ’68 Revisited at the French Cultural Center
Feb 1 @ 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm

French Cultural Center Special Series Opening: May ’68 Revisited

French Cultural Center Special Series Opening

The French Cultural Center will host a reception to inaugurate the winter/spring series of May ’68 events. The Center’s partners from Harvard and Northeastern universities will be on hand to highlight their activities, events and why they believe the seminal events of 50 years ago remain crucial to examine today.

The evening includes the opening of the photo exhibit “May ’68: When Paris Erupted in Protest,” by French photographer Marc Riboud (1923-2016). Riboud, two-time winner of the Overseas Press Club Award and Sony World Photography Lifetime Achievement Award, was known for his beautifully-composed black-and-white photographs and focus on people and places.

About the Exhibition

On May 3, 1968, Parisian students took to the street in protests that spread throughout France, quickly engulfing offices, factories and other places of work. The country came to a near-standstill. This exhibition of works by the late French photographer Marc Riboud reminds us of both the passions of the moment and of the enigmatic playfulness that striking students and workers frequently displayed. The annotated exhibit will provide a timeline of the developments that terminated, unpredictably, with a massive electoral reaffirmation of the government of President Charles de Gaulle.

An advance RSVP is required for this event.

May ’68 Revisited: The Occupy Movement that Paralyzed France
This winter and spring, the French Cultural Center / Alliance Française of Boston and Cambridge, in partnership with Northeastern University and Harvard University, presents May ’68 Revisited: The Occupy Movement that Paralyzed France. This months-long series of exhibitions, discussions, debates, film screenings, readings and other activities presents the viewpoints of authors, photographers, journalists, artists, academics, politicians and others to help you discover, appreciate and understand the impact of the May ’68 uprisings.
