On Tuesday, August 27th at 6:00 PM, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation will join area officials for a public information meeting regarding the permanent closure of the I-90 Westbound Clarendon Street on-ramp which will take place on September 3, 2019.
This closure is being implemented following approval from the Federal Highway Administration and due to concerns over safety and effective travel at this location. The on-ramp has limited sight distance for drivers, meaning they have little visibility of other vehicles when they are merging onto the highway, and it is too short for vehicles to accelerate to the appropriate speed at the access point. The crash rate at this on-ramp is also higher than the rates at other on-ramps in the local area.
This meeting location is accessible to people with disabilities. MassDOT provides reasonable accommodations and/or language assistance free of charge upon request (including but not limited to interpreters in American Sign Language and languages other than English, open or closed captioning for videos, assistive listening devices and alternate material formats, such as audio tapes, Braille and large print), as available. SFD has dug deep into their closets and dusted off dozens of collectible donated garments spanning several decades of great fashion and they’re delighted to share them with you at a live fashion show of collectible vintage fashions donated to SFD over the decades.
The evening will also include a gallery talk with Ren Antonowicz, Historic Costume & Textiles expert, a display of donated works by acclaimed Boston designer Francesco “Ches” DiRusso, a gallery of vintage SFD photos from the 30s, 60s, and 90s, and an exciting announcement from SFD.

During this 3-day studio workshop Chris Firger will share a variety of the techniques he uses to create bold, dynamic, and eye-catching work.
During this 3-day studio workshop Chris Firger will share a variety of the techniques he uses to create bold, dynamic, and eye-catching works with acrylic paint. For experienced painters and beginners alike, this class will explore subjects such as composition, brushwork, layering, even varnishing, all with the goal of bringing more life to each painting you work on. Each day students can expect a lesson and demonstration from the artist in the morning, followed by painting and one on one instruction in the afternoon. Students will be responsible for bringing their own painting supplies (*see below), lunch, and reference photos. To purchase tickets click here.
The program will run Wednesday March 18 – Friday March 20, 2020. 9:30 – 4:30 with a one hour lunch break each day.
Tuition is $300 ($250 for Artist Members of the Copley Society of Art and $275 for Patrons and Young Collectors. Please call the gallery to apply your discount to the workshop tuition fee)
Enrollment: Registration is open from December 15 to March 10. Workshop is limited to 14 students.

Patrick White will give a short history of fake news. He will compare the Fake News situation in the US and in Quebec, tell us how to find reliable sources, and give us tips on how to think critically about statistics and events being presented in the news.
